12: Oliver Heldens & Throttle – Waiting

Oliver Heldens is the chart-topping wobbly future house kingpin with a cracking podcast (Heldeep Radio) that livens up my Sunday afternoon bus journeys with the best of the scene without generic guff. Throttle is the purveyor of so-called dirty disco so funky that 2015 saw him release the first ever official remix of ‘September’ by Earth, Wind & Fire (which might just about be better than the original). Kicking off the new year of releases is their collaboration ‘Waiting’, which layers flashy guitar riffs with sporadically deep bass-driven melodies. For once in a thorough dance collaboration, both parties feel equally represented and, well, capable. It’s a party we’ve all been waiting for.
