15: Jamie xx feat. Romy – Loud Places

To celebrate Jamie xx‘s nomination for the solo male BRIT Award (and HONNE‘s excellent cover in a Radio 1 Piano Session), here’s one of the finest cuts from his In Colour LP. With xx bandmate Romy Madley-Croft present on ‘Loud Places’, there’s an instant sense of comforting familiarity which, combined  Jamie’s freer reign over the production takes it to a level above its neighbours.

Coexist saw the trio move from the gutsy moods of their debut towards something far softer and dreamier, and it’s already been suggested that Jamie’s increased solo work will have a yet greater influence on what comes next. After four years of waiting that have felt like infinity, 2016 must surely reveal some more.
