18: Phoenix – Lisztomania

Mozart In The Jungle is fantastic. For too long I’d avoided it, thinking it was some debauched tale of classical rockstars as familiar with cocaine as their conductors. Really, it’s just an enjoyable comedy drama thing set in the bowels of the New York Symphony Orchestra which won Amazon a Golden Globe recently. Of course the music is tremendous – I’ll let you imagine my squeal of joy when they started on Mahler’s 8th – and the theme tune, a euphoric rendition of ‘Lisztomania’ from the superb Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, could not be more appropriate.
