59: Icona Pop – Someone Who Can Dance

Perhaps when I snidely dismissed Icona Pop‘s contributions to pop culture all of three days ago, believing I was safe to do so having not heard anything from them since the Charli XCX-featuring ‘I Love It’ soundtracked many a crash of mine in Need For Speed: Most Wanted before going on to bridge the way into charts around the world, I was being hasty. ‘Someone Who Can Dance,’ which they premiered at the Grammis (also known as Sweden’s national music awards show for everyone to mock while established artists to perform on telly), is actually quite good. It’s boisterous, direct pop shouting, and this live version (which will surely emerge as a recorded version for some international push) with Elliphant and Zara Larsson has some absolutely atrocious choreography. You’re the best, Sweden.
