80: Calvin Harris – Acceptable In The 80s

Before Calvin Harris became the impeccably-chiselled face of Armani and the Las Vegas stranglehold over the EDM phenomenon, he was responsible for some of the most cringeworthy interviews and goofy disco tracks of the late noughties. One day I’ll properly explore it all (not at 3am when I’ve forgotten to properly schedule a post) but for now I’ll leave you with a highlight from the delightful and, well, enjoyable I Created Disco. It’s not its pinnacle – that honour goes to the peculiar soundbite ‘Vault Character’ according to dodgy iTunes play counts and ‘The Girls’ according to most well-calibrated ears if they ignore the opening minute – though it does serve as a powerful manifesto for his bedroom disco revival that, unfortunately, faded into darkness.
