Apologies for the automated mess of the past few days, including that Kungs thingamajig not posting until 11pm because I may have accidentally saved it as a draft instead of a scheduled post. Business should, from this point, return to a state even better than that you may be used to, for yesterday was the final exam of my first year of university so I have no academic commitments until the end of September. It’ll be lovely.
We return with the lead track from Anohni‘s solo debut, in which she sings a love song-cum-suicide wish from the perspective of a 9-year-old girl in Afghanistan. If that concept isn’t enough to convince you, this distinctive Hudson Mohawke production is one of the most startlingly and hauntingly beautiful things I’ve ever stumbled into on late night Sunday Radio 1 rotation.
