154: Clean Bandit feat. Louisa Johnson – Tears

When Louisa Johnson emerged victorious from The X Factor in December with an unbearably moribund Bob Dylan cover, I touched on her similarity to a bunch of other female vocalists who had found homes as regular features on dance tracks. For her first single proper to be as a feature on a Clean Bandit record is surprising and welcome. Though Johnson herself doesn’t captivate, ‘Tears’ is a very good pop song with a delightful balance of orchestral gimmickry and forlorn heartbreak.
